DataFeed and Textpattern in Affiliate Marketing

One of the most popular way to earn money in Affiliate Marketing is using DataFeed. Affiliate datafeeds are simply product databases. Affiliate datafeeds usually contain information such as the price, description, image and direct link to a product that a merchant has for sale on their website.

Most datafeed are in CSV (coma separated value) format. You can easily import using spreadsheet for editing, sorting, and other manipulation.

The problem, however, is how to convert datafeed into web pages. This is where TextPattern can help. Textpattern is a flexible, elegant and easy-to-use content management system (CMS). The idea is to make datafeeds an articles or contents on Textpattern.

Here is an idea how to make work.

  • Download and install Textpattern on your web server.
  • Download and install jmd_csv plugin and install it. This plugin allow you to import articles from CSV files into Textpattern.
  • Download datafeeds from your merchant, import it into your spreadsheet. Use the spreadsheet to manipulate the data so you can create csv file that fit with jmd_csv required format.
  • Once the datafeed are loaded on Textpattern, you can use Textpattern power to show the articles/datafeed on the web.
